My friends I was moved to start this thread (hopefully more people will view and reply) because of my burning desire to support Barack Obama for President.
Prior to now I have been and still is an admirer of Ronald Reagan. I am a registered Republican, but in the past couple of months I have been drawn to Obama due to his inspirational run in the primaries. I have donated money several times for his effort and have gone as far as to stop making my usual contribution to the Republican National Committe.
I am still a fiscal conservative and a strong national defense Republican. My views on these two areas are divergent to those of Obama, but on social issues there may be some areas where we agree on the issues. But my support for this dynamic gentleman goes beyond political issues. I am motivated by his passion and the posibility for a new generation of leaders that we need in America.
hmmmmmmm,i think you can say more.some people will be needing a longer speech to be convinced and to think you are infact a Republican....

My Brother... Republican I am..
I believe in self reliance, lower taxes, smaller government (less obtrusive govt) and I detest the wholesale welfare state syndrome.
However, this thread is about Obama. When you read about Reagan and the way he inspired hope, when you study JFK and the manner in which he raised the optimisim of Americans and the world, you realise we are withnessing the coming of another visionary leader. No matter what your political stripe is at this point in time you have to stop and relish the potential.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!please don't drag me into the abyss of American politics.
And by the way,i kinda need some explanation on how come u win a caucus and still have less delegates.am sure Clinton ain't finding that funny.i read up on it but i don't really get it in all it's entirety.
i take it he won the last elections on is it Carolina...not sure.....
and by the way, do you know that Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama were nominated for grammies this year for their inspirational speeches in audio.i think anyone that wins has been politically leveraged by the music community.

The abyss?? of American politics... thats interesting. Are you comparing it to the free and open Nigerian politics? :)
When the Caucus... its kind of like the old Nigeria 3rd republic open ballot system. You stand behind your choice. You may end up with less delegates because its not winner (plural) takes all.
In order words you may have more popular votes but less delegates.. remember Bush V Gore in 2000. Bush had more electoral collage votes, but Gore won the popular vote.
Obama.. won in South Carolina..
When I first came to the states, I heard Bob Dole speak and just didn't really pay attention. However when it was Clinton's time, I asked my Uncles wife, "Who is that man' and she said he was the democratic candidate. I said "I like him" That was how I thought I was a democrat. However as I became more matured in American politics, I realized that even though I often like the Democratic candidates since they are often more charismatic, I am a Republican by believes and behavior.
I am still a republican because I have to consider who butters my bread due to my profession but I must say I agree with Fulani. Obama is a visionary leader who transcends political parties. In the last election, I was in support of Edwards but when he did not win the party nomination, I voted for Bush.
This time I like all 3 democratic candidates but favor Obama the most especially after I read in the local paper that someone said he will not vote for him because he does not like his name. So here I am thinking, will this mans children like the name of my son when he runs for president in future?
well,i kinda get the caucus system.i will try read up on it hopefully if i get the chance.
And i think the guy that hates Barrack's name is looking for a reason not to support him.:D :D

All, I had a very rewarding day yesterday. I went door to door canvassing for Obama in my neighborhood. Its was a very exiciting experience not just for me but for the response I received along the way.
Obama have really changed peoples perceptions in this country. I am off to a rally where Oprah, Caroline Kennedy and Michelle Obama will feature.
Go Nigeria...the last time I check the score was 1-1. Lets hope we beat Ghana.

Good showing. Although Obama lost California, he ended up splitting the delegates. If only he got Massachusetts...
he's got his winning streak back, right?
and by the way he also won his grammy nomination....let me post it....

Obama is looking good. However, he and his advisers have to be humble. Its not quite over yet. Still a tight race, but he is certainly the Democratic frontrunner.
