GREEDY TORTOISE

Episode 1: Tortoise and the Birds

Once in the distant land of the animals, there was great famine such that it was rear to behold any animal feeding on anything than weeds.

One day, Tortoise met some birds who looked so nourished that you could tell they did not feed on weeds. When Tortoise inquired from them, they bluntly refused to disclose their source of food. But, as always, Tortoise pestered on and would not let them go unless they told him. Eventually they did.

They told him it was very far away from their village and can not be reached by land. It had to be by the flight. After much deliberating the birds decided to loan the tortoise a feather each (tortoise had earlier insisted that he would follow in their next journey to the land of plenty). And so Tortoise was decorated and arranged in various colourful feathers to enable him fly along.

When they go to the sixth river the birds stopped on the island were they usually have their rest before completing the journey. While resting Tortoise spoke up "Before we get to this place, I suggest that every bird should take up a new name for himself". So, in agreement Tortoise gave each bird a new name. The birds all liked their new names. Tortoise, on the other hand took up a new name, which he called "All of you". To the birds, it was all an exciting game. But to Tortoise another master plan.

On getting to the land of plenty, their host served each one of the birds including the Tortoise with enough food to refresh them all. After the meal, a special portion was brought out and the chief of that land said "This one is for "All of you". Immediately he said this Tortoise walked up to him and received the special portion. As he was eating, the birds came to join him. But, Tortoise shoved them all away, reminding them that the meal was meant for only him, since he was the only one that bears the name "All of you". The special portion was actually meant to be taken back to the animal kingdom but, the Tortoise ate them all.

When it was time to go back the Tortoise was unable to move himself, as he was overfed and quite heavy. The birds on second though accepted to carry him back with them (having resolved secretly to punish greedy Tortoise). Not long after they passed the second river, the angry birds withdrew their grip from the tortoise (who was already snoring in a deep sleep). As Tortoise fell the birds individually plucked their wings from Tortoise. Before Tortoise could realize the tragedy that befell l him, it had become too late.

Would Tortoise survive this fall? Is this the end of his tricks?
