No
Cos we are attached more to our native women.
But any way we need them especially for economic reasons.

Like Nonso said. Nigerian men need foreign women more for economic reasons than for taste. The "Think Home" philosophy is still there. A nigerian man that is dating a foreign lady has every tendency to want to check out the egusi and okro he is used to.

I don't think a typical Nigeria man will prefer a foreign woman, cos of their cultural values.

@ madonna, please tell me foreign women cultrual values.@aiqokoye not every nigerian man need economic assistance and if the man really wants the woman he will teach how to make his homeland dishes. The reason i replyed to these two are how can another person from a totally different contient tell me my cultural values? And not all men need green cards and or your money, and if he truley wants to be with you he will teach you what ever makes him happy and if you want to be with him you will be willing to learn so as you can tell I beleive it;s the two people involved and not so much were they come from.

@Vronnie
I know your questions are not directed at me but you see this weekend I have turned a $20 bathroom leak to a $680 bathroom overhaul, though not by choice, it had to be done. Anyway in between this mind blowing overhaul, I have been coming to the forum to cool off. Unfortunately my brain is not stable enough to kick Fulani's butt in the Arcade like I promised so I have resulted to posting on the forum.

Ok here is my take, first and foremost the cool thing about a forum is that everyone is free to air their opinnion, as long as they do not insult another member, usually it is ok. Now as we all know different people have different opinnions and taste varies from coast to coast and even within the same zip code.
Now you are right when you say " not every Nigerian man needs economic assistance" but to chime in on the values thing, do not take offense because they have not said foreign values are bad they have just implied that it is different. One of the reasons I am chiming in here is in one of your posts in this forum you said "this is my first marriage" such sentences are almost never said in our culture. That does not mean we do not have divorces but the percentage is so small and it is not the norm but the exception. Most true blooded Nigerians will frown at that very statement because in marriage we do not look back, we jump in with both feet and we truly believe in "till death do us path". So that is an example of the different values madonna could be talking about.
As per the food thing, depending on where your husband to be is from, you can learn but some will be challenging but not impossible. Hopefully he is not from Eastern Nigerian and you will not have to learn to cook stock fish, believe me, the smell of this fish while it is being cooked will throw you into convulsion- lol, however it is very tasty when done. Imagine a fish you have to cut with a hack saw or circular saw!

lol.... sorry about your bathroom.no offense was taken . the statment "this is my first marriage"was made because this is not his first marriage. being raised the way that I was I truley believe in till death do us apart, that is why at 43 yrs old Iam just getting married .And as far cooking stock fish can not possibly smell any more worse than chitterlings wowwwwwww lol

where are these guys from!!!

nosno and aigokoye

These guys sound like Neanderthals!!! are you kidding me.!!

As a guy who has dated every racial group, and I mean every racial group!

I can say that people are people at the end of the day.

As the saying goes...whatever, turns you on! In my adult life I believe I have dated more Afro Americans. I will say this... These women will stand by you if you have nothing!..

I may be generalizing here but I will venture to say that a couple of Nigerian women I know will want to know what you do for a living... who your parents are..in case there is family money... etc etc.

So guys don't get hung up on 'culture' find what makes you happy

This guy has always been frank, so am not surprised the way he goes. Though, am still in Nigeria and haven't tried anyother nation, i believe hapiness is what evry one should look for in a relationship, it doesn't matter what nationality gives it.

True there are a lot of "culture issues", when it comes to dating and, possibly, marrying "foreign" women.

But who actually is a "foreign woman"?

Can somebody please tell me...

Are we talking about people of other races, like Caucasian women, Asians etc?
Or does it apply also to people of African descent who are NOT African?

What about Africans who are not Nigerian?
Are they also "foriegn"?

And would a Gwari man call an Ibibio woman "foriegn"?

What about an Egba Yoruba man and say a Yoruba woman from Kwara?
Would he call her "Foriegn"?...

People, the world has moved on from the days when Okonkwo of "Things fall apart" fame trod on the time worn paths of his village and a lot of people have also moved on from the rigid ethnocentric apirations of that generation...

At least i have.

And I am happily married to a beautiful woman from Trinidad who completes me in EVERY way possible...a lot more than any woman from my village ever did or ever would have...

@ beneli...true talk!!

I think the bottom line is this.. if you've experienced other cultures' then your attitude toward this topic will be shaped by such experiences, good or bad.
