Some of our recent discussions on this forum have set me thinking. Which is the most important to man of the three: the past, the present or the future? And how should one treat each of them?

What we are is a fusion of all three: And i'm talking about what we are individually and collectively.

On the individual level we are products of our past.
No matter how much the overspiritual preacher would say that you become a "new creature" once you are "born agin", your temparement, your emotions and your genetics remain. You see, you cannot run away from your past, but you can manage it in order to create a better present and lay the foundation for a greater future...

Maturity is really about processing cumulative experiences. And that's why maturity is not about age; its about experience. In other words its about what you do with your past and present.

Some phrase it this way: if you don't know where you're coming from, then you'll probably not have a clear destination. In other words, for there to be a journey, there has to be a starting and an ending....

But then, our aspirations and hopes for the future is the driving force for that journey. Our hopes for the future is what some call our vision. And where there is no vision the people perish...

This is also relevant on a social and racial level;
A people who do not know their history will get swallowed up by those who do. Because on that level, your history testifies to the potentials of your people.

I wrote a piece somewhere and i'll post it under the "what they don't want you to know" article.
